Match Result - UKRV vs Purple Rose

After losing 6 and drawing 1 in the last 7 games we had played, UKRV finally got back to winning form yesterday, playing against Purple Rose. The match was played at UKRC field in Kuala Ampang and UKRV managed to secure a victory with 2 goals to 1 score line. Thank you Ravin for scoring the 2 goals for the team. Players turn-out was not that good. We had only 13 regulars for the game yesterday. Hope to see the rest of the players in the next game.

For the players information, UKRV received an invitation to participate in Brunei 7's International Veteran Tournament scheduled for 4th & 5th December 2010. So far the feedback from the players has been -ve except for 1. I guess UKRV won't be participating this time around.

UKRV played its 14th friendly match of the 2010/2011 season against Sanderland (Kg Pasir) at Linatex football field this afternoon. UKRV lost the match by 3 goals to 1.

UKRV scored through Karuna early in the 1st half. Score was even at 1 all in the second half before our opponent secured the match with 2 goals in the 3rd half. I was informed that we played against youngsters and they were good. They really piled on the pressure in the 3rd half. We did not have the service of our regular goalkeeper. Black was the goal custodian in the 1st half before Karu took over the position in the 2nd and 3rd half of the match. UKRV was again playing without the service of our top scorer Amin (Amin apologised, he had a long siesta ...)

With this latest result, UKRV have lost the last 4 friendly games. It's some sort of a record for UKRV. Come on guys, lets win the next one before we take a break during Ramadhan.

Match Result - UKRV vs KL Vikings

UKRV played its 14th friendly match of the 2010/2011 season against KL Vikings at Linatex football field on last Saturday afternoon (10th July 2010). UKRV lost the match by 4 goals to 2.

KL Vikings scored early in the 1st half before Karu level things up for UKRV. KL Vikings pulled ahead with another goal before the end of the 1st half. The start of the second half saw UKRV fielding a fresh new eleven team players (except for Fairus, the Goalkeeper)to give opportunities to the players that have not played earlier.

UKRV managed to level the score to 2-2 with a goal contributed by our 16 years old son, Farid. The score stood at 2 all till the end of the 2nd half. However in the 3rd half, KL Vikings piled on the pressure and was rewarded with two goals to end the game at 4 goals to 2 in their favour.

Initially, we did not expect a good turnout of players for this game because only seven players confirmed their availability for this game. Upon Black & Radzmi's initiatives, they invited 4 players from the U16 squad to join the veterans. As it turned out, many of the players who did not confirm came to play, so dah terlebih sangat players ( ..... Murti & Karu ended up playing for opposing side in the 3rd half) . So its vital that all UKRV players take responsibility in responding to SMS sent out by the Manager so that the team officials can appropriately plan for the game. An "OK" message is all it takes to confirm. Kalau susah sangat, sending a "K" message pun boleh di terima sebagai confirmation.

Match Result - UKRV vs ASTAKA FC

UKRV played its 13th friendly match of the 2010/2011 season against ASTAKA FC at Japanese School in Subang Saujana Linatex this afternoon. The matched kicked off at 5.3pm. UKRV lost the match 6 goals to nil, the biggest lost so far since the formation of UKRV. Ada beberapa sebab kenapa kita kalah, tapi yang nyata kita tidak cohesive and bermain sebagai satu pasukan yang mantap.

Most of our players had a long day at the Kraftangan Templer Park football field from 10am till the U12 match finished at 5pm and then had to rush to Subang to play in the friendly. The score was 4 nil in the first half. No goals were scored in the second half but UKRV conceded another 2 goals in the 3rd half of the match.

There are no photos to be uploaded at the moment. I will need to find out whether MatBab managed to snap any photos of UKRV players in action. Till then we need to put in some practise at "Wembley" before facing another formidable opponent on 10th July at Linatex.

UKRV played its 12th friendly match of the 2010/2011 season against Ceylon Bar FC at Linatex football field this afternoon. UKRV lost 2 goals to 1. UKRV scored early in the game through a goal by Shah. Our opponent level the score before half time and increased their lead by another well taken goal in the second half.

UKRV played its 11th friendly match of the 2010/2011 season against TAKAFUL FC yesterday evening at UKRC Football Field, Kuala Ampang, Selangor DE. UKRV had a very good turnout of players despite Father's Day celebration. UKRV managed to keep its winning streak by winning the game against TAKAFUL FC with a scoreline of 3 goals to 2.

Nor Amin scored two goals in the second half after a scoreless first half. TAKAFUL FC responded with a goal in the second half too. Team Manager Miezi scored from the penalty spot in the 3rd half before our opponent equalized before the final whistle. Both our goalkeeper (Hisham & Faizul) made some good saves to deny TAKAFUL FC a win over UKRV on UKRV's home ground.Syabas to all the players. UKRV played its 9th friendly match of the 2010/2011 season against Komuniti Masyarakat Seksyen 23 Shah Alam yesterday evening at Shah Alam Mini Stadium. Despite the low turn-out of players (only 14 players), UKRV still managed to win this game 4 goals to 3. Nor Amin scored a hattrick and Shah added another goal to the score sheet.

Yes, we won the friendly match against UTM UNIKES today. The score at the end of the match was 6 goals to 3 in favour of UKRV. This is the 1st time in UKRV's history that saw six different players scoring for the side in the same match. This goes to show that UKRV players has what it takes to score goals. It was a good game for UKRV, especially in the 3rd half of the match. Syabas to everybody that played this evening. There was a good turn-out of players for this match. Team Manager pun tak perlu bersusah payah kena turun padang ...... bagi instructions tepi padang aje (well, that is what a Team Manager suppose to do anyway).

UKRV kicked-off the match very lethargically though; it was probably due to this morning UKRC kids football tournament when almost all of UKRV football players were involved as parents supporting their kids during the tournament which was played from 8.30 am and ended at 1.30pm after the prize giving ceremony. After the long hours in the sun, where temperature reached as high as 39 degrees C at high noon, most of us were quite exhausted. Our opponent took advantage of this and scored two goals in the 1st half of the match, one was a result of an off-side trap that did not work out.

In the second half, UKRV played with a different set of players. We still did not find our usual rhythm of play. We were relying too much on long passes and through balls. It took Amin to come on the field in the second half to score the opening goal for UKRV. After UKRV's goal response, UTM UNIKES scored another goal yet again, this time with a good blast from outside the penalty area giving UKRV's keeper little chance at saving the shot. The game ended with a 3 goal to 1 scoreline in the second half.

UKRV finally played real football in the 3rd half. OM who was captaining the side re-organised the players and their playing positions. This has quite an effect on the rhythm of play and the UKRV players showed their mettle. With the defense well organised and marshaled by OM and the midfield engine working well and with the forwards and flankers taking shots at goal, it was only time that UKRV would score their next goal. The players made beautiful short passes, progressively bringing the ball from their own half to the opponent's half in their attack. They had about 80% possession of the ball in the 3rd half of the match.

The goal did finally come, from a Nik's beautifully taken right in-swinger that caught the opposing team goalkeeper off-guard. The goal keeper was actually off his line and the ball dipped beautifully into the left corner of the goal post. UKRV then started to put on more pressure on the opposing side to try to level the score.

UKRV's 3rd goal, which was also the equalizer, came from an unlikely source, yes from Azmi "Score A - Kelate" Jusoh. He pounced on a loose ball and in "a yet again one-on-one with the goalkeeper", he scored. Finally!. Azmi has not been playing since the beginning of the season and its good to see him come on the team and start scoring goals.

Azrul Kenit scored UKRV's 4th goal from a penalty kick after UNIKES's defender handled the ball in the penalty area. Shah added the fifth goal and Ali Hanafiah scored in the dying minutes of the 3rd half when he pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area bring the final score of the match to 6 goals to 3 in UKRV's favour.

I really enjoyed watching the match in the 3rd half. UKRV players really played some very good football, moving and making short passes of the ball, no more long passes and through balls that requires a Usain Bolt sprint just to get to the ball. They made use of the spaces available and played wide using both the left and right flanks. UKRV was quite compact in the middle with the defenders and midfield players supporting and communicating each other very well. In short, everybody wanted to play football as a TEAM and win the match for UKRV. I hope this passion will continue for the rest of the season and win many more matches for UKRV. Bravo UKRV!.

Ada correction on the scorer list for the UKRV vs Cheerful. An anonymous reader has commented that Amin scored the 1st and 3rd goal, while Azrul scored the 2nd goal. I would assume this to be correct (some committee members I spoke to weren't sure who had scored) and make the necessary correction on the top scorer table.

UKRV drew 3 all in its 7th friendly game for the 2010/2011 against the team "Cheerful" which was played at Setia Alam Eco Park last Sunday on Mother's Day, 9th May 2010.

Cheerful led in the first half 2 goals to 1 and again in the second half 3 goals to 2 before UKRV leveled the score line 3 all in the 3rd half of play. 18 players managed to make it to Setia Alam for this game. All of UKRV's goals were scored by Nor Amin, bring his personal total goal tally to 12.

Driving direction to Setia Alam: 1.Take the NKVE and drive towards Klang from Duta Toll 2.Take the SETIA ALAM exit ( the one after Shah Alam/Elite exit) 3.Drive straight ahead after Setia Alam Toll house 4. Make a U-Turn @ the 1st flyover u see drive straight ahead 5. Then take the 1st left turn 6.You will meet a roundabout, take the 12 o'clock 7.Drive straight and make a U-turn at the second roundabout you see 8.Take a left turn after the football pitch.

I hope the driving direction help. Walaubagaimanapun, all players are requested to assemble at UKRC grounds between 3.00pm to 3.30pm and we can pool cars and head to Setia Alam in a car convoy.

For those who celebrates Mother's Day, here are some suggestion that you might want to consider ................. 1.celebrate it a day earlier (you won't get "slaughtered" by the restaurant) 2.Break the tradition, have a "Breakfast" celebration or a "Brunch" celebration (between 11.30 am to 1.30am, also celebration mah!) 3.Or if you have to, have a late dinner celebration (starts at 9pm) 4.or better still, skip all the celebrations and buy your mother or wife a diamond/gold pendant .............. then she will let you go off peacefully to play football.

UKRV sent 2 teams to the UKRC 7 a-side tournament today 1st May 2010. The game was played at 12 noon and ended in the evening. A total of 8 teams participated. team played in a round robin of 3 games.

UKRV Team A lost 1 game and drew the other two. UKRV Team B lost in all 3 games. The losses were expected as several key players were missing due to the long weekend. Both teams had to make do without the regular goal keepers. I managed to snap some photos this afternoon. UKRV will be playing in UKRC's 7 a-side Tournament (UKRC internal tournament). UKRV will be sending 2 teams to this tournament. Selected players will be notified in due course. Siapa yang tak selected tu,jangan marah ya, as we need the best players to represent UKRV (players yang kita rasa ada kemampuan to play in a 7 a-side game, penat bro! ..... boleh muntah dibuatnya). Match Result - UKRV vs Jollylads

Sorry Black, hanya satu kemenangan hari ini ............... UKRCU12 vs Kiddo Kickers pagi tadi di dataran MBPJ. Yang lain semuanya kalah, seperti the friendly match dengan Jollylads. Yes! we were beaten 5 goals to 1, with Amin scoring UKRV's solitary goal in the 3rd half of the match. Our opponents were good petang tadi and they played well as a team. I felt sorry for our defense, some of them had to really worked overtime petang tadi. We did not move the ball well and we frequently lost it after 2 to 3 passes. We seems lost most of the time. Some tried playing solo, tapi ...... Long range passes did not worked and the short passes were not on target.

Rasanya macam sudah lama kita tak practise Sunday morning di "Wembley". Next week you guys ada 7 a-side tourney. Need to work on the fitness. Main tengah hari pulak tu! Meanwhile, saudara bolehlah tatap gambar Azrin & Black beraksi petang tadi. Yang lain ....... belum ada mood nak upload disebabkan kekalahan petang tadi. Adios!

Match Result - UKRV vs Cochrane Hunters

Bravo ! we had a good turnout of players, all of whom were very eager to play today. Captain Fauzi must have had a tough time deciding on who to play in all the halves & how long they should remain on the pitch. We could have easily made 2 teams and a lot of us would still be in the reserves. But as usual, we seems to be able to have all the players present play a part in our 5 goals to 1 victory today.

Congratulation to all the players for the good and fine display of football in all the 3 halves. We enjoyed a 2 goal lead in the first half with Amin and Shah contributing the goals.

We had to play in defense most of the time during the second half as our midfield and forward weren't firing on all cylinders. But we ensured a comfortable lead of 5 nil in the third half through goals from Amin & Shah again, while Sharin added the fifth goal from the penalty spot after a foul was committed by the opposing side in the penalty box. The visitors however managed to score their solitary goal as a result of a misunderstanding of our back line.

The game was played in heavy rain during the first half. When the rain finally stopped in the second half, the pitch was already very wet and slippery making ball control a very difficult task. UKRC U9 & U8 boys and girls team played in DBKL Soccerkids inaugural tournament held at Kuala Lumpur Stadium in Cheras in a 2 days tournament played on 27th & 28th March 2010.

Both teams managed to qualify for the quarter finals after playing a three matches round robin group format in the 1st round on the 1st day. However both teams lost their quarter final matches. The U9 team led by Irfan lost to MBPJ 2 goals to 1 and the U8 team led by Yadi played very well in defense to deny Little League an avalanche of goals by losing 2 goals to nil.

The matches were played 5 aside on an international futsal pitch size (grass pitch). Futsal rules were enforced during the matches, which I might add were not made known to the young kids. Thus mistakes were made that could have an opposite effect on the result of the matches played during the tournament if the kids only knew the rules.

Match Result - UKRV vs FC Happy Hours

UKRV 2nd friendly game of the 2010/2011 season was played this evening in wet condition at UKRC football field in Kuala Ampang. The team led by its captain Fauzi, managed to hold its opponent, FC Happy Hours to a 3 all draw with goals scored by Shah (1 goal) in the second half of the match and Amin (2 goals) in the third half of the game.

UKRV had a low turn-out of players when the match kicked-off at 5.45pm. Only 14 players were available for Fauzi to pick his 1st eleven for the 1st half. As the match progressed, a couple of players turned-up to increase the number of available players to 16.

The match was played in a drizzling and rainy conditions. UKRV started the match on the wrong foot ..... FC Happy Hours took the lead in the very first minute of the game through a well taken kick at goal from just outside the left corner of the penalty box and floated high just below the goal post bar and out of reach of Faizul, our goalkeeper.

The score increased to 2 goals in FC Happy Hours favour which was caused by a defensive error of UKRV's back line. In attempting to clear the ball out of the danger area, a missed kick resulted in the ball going into their own net.

Several changes were made to the squad that played in the second half, with some players that played in the first half were rested. Shah, our striker managed to reduce the goal deficit to 1 when he scored a goal for UKRV from a through pass he received down the right side of the field. Shah managed to overcome the opposing goalkeeper who had come rushing out his goal mouth in an attempt to closed down the angle available to Shah to place his ball into the goal mouth. The score remained at 2-1 at the end of the second half in favour of FC Happy Hours.

Fortunately for us Amin managed to wake-up from his afternoon siesta and was able to make his way to UKRC field just in time to play in the 3rd half. With Amin's presence, UKRV was able to equalise the score at 2-2. However FC Happy Hours were able to once again score through a high floating ball into the right hand corner of UKRV's goal mouth which was out of reach of our keeper Faizul. Amin once again had the opportunity to blast in his second goal to ensure that UKRV at least manage a draw for it's second game of the season.

Overall, UKRV played very well in the 3rd half of the match, where the presence of several key players made the difference upfront and the back line was pretty solid. Once again we did not have good support in midfield and we did not have players playing the wings.

MATCH RESULT - UKRV vs FELDA Engineering

UKRV 1st game for the 2010/2011 season friendlies ended with UKRV on the losing end. UKRV lost to FELDA Engineering 3 goals to 1. Our opponents were clearly not "veterans" and our lads played well to hold them at a 1 all score line for the 1st 2 halves of the match.

However, we gave away 2 goals in the final 3rd half due to a drop in our players'concentration and the diminishing energy levels of our veterans. Nampaknya kita kena tukar ke engine "fuel injection". However I would congratulate our player for a job well done although our team could have been more competitive if some of our key players were playing yesterday evening. Amin, our last season top scorer, opened his account for the 2010/2011 season by scoring UKRV's solitary goal in the second half of the game.

The winning team UKRV United led by Captain Fauzi won the UKRV Inter-Parents Team Inaugural Match against UKRV City led by Captain Murti by 4 goals to 1. CONGRATULATION & SYABAS TO THE WINNERS. The goals for UKRV United was scored by Nor Amin, Azhar, Azrul and Mi Kelate (finally!). Meizi scored for UKRV City from the penalty spot in the second half of the game.

Nor Amin UKRV won the UKRV Top Scorer award for the 2009/2010 season friendlies. He scored a total of 20 goals in 19 matches. Nor Amin was also judged the Man of The Match for the Inter-Parents Team Inaugural Match. He played for UKRV United in the 1st half and for UKRV City in the second half. He contributed a goal for UKRV United when he turn out for them in the 1st half.

Match Result - UKRV vs Melawati FC

UKRV 19th and last friendly match of the 2009/2010 season against Melawati FC played this evening at DBKL Field in Wangsa Maju Section 4 ended in a 2 nil defeat for UKRV. Our opponent played well and deserve to win the match. UKRV on the other hand had ample opportunities to score at least 3 goals in the 2nd and 3rd half of the game but the forward could not convert the opportunities into goals and had to settle for a goal drought this time around.

Notice the difference in the color of the hair of the 2 players in green as compared to the one in red jersey.

Anyway, thank you to all the players that turned up to play this evening even though it rained heavily before the kick-off, thank you for your support to the team. 25 players played for UKRV. Most of you made it in time for the delayed kick-off at 5.50pm. Team captain Fauzi also took the trouble to turned up to play even though he had to fly to Seoul later tonight. sempat juga dia main one half.

The UKRV "INTER-PARENTS TEAM" inaugural match is scheduled to be held on 28th February 2010. Details of the match are as follows:

Teams : The eligible players has been divided into 2 teams which be be headed by Captain Fauzi (019-2819788) & Murti (016-2204606). Please call them to find out the teams you will be playing for.

Date & Venue of the match: Sunday 28th February 2010, UKRC Field.

Mode of play & kick-off time: 3 halves of 25 minutes for each half. Kick-off time 5.00 pm.

Prizes & Post match celebration: UKRV "Inter-Parents Team" Annual Challenge Cup/Trophy will be up for grabs by the winner of the match. All participating players will be given medals. There will also be a "Man of the Match" award. There will be makan after the game (of course lah di dewan UKRC, tak kan kat 5 star hotel pulak, budget kecik bang!).

Fees: It was agreed that we will levy a fee of RM50.00 per player which will cover the cost of field rental, referee fees, prizes & post match celebration.

This will be the last game of the 2009/2010 season. During the post game celebration, players will also be electing a new Manager and 2 team Captains for the 2010/2011 season.

UKRV 18th game against Jollylads this evening played at UKRC field ended in a 3-3 draw. Nor Amin contributed 1 goal in the second half and added another in the 3rd half. Meanwhile Nik Aziz scored 1 in the second half courtesy of a pass from Amin. Tahniah to all the players who played this evening.

Syabas & Congratulation to Captain Fauzi & OM for the brilliant & gritty performance to overcome our opponents from KKM and win by a comfortable margin of 6 goals to 3.

We led 2 nil in the 1st half with two goals from Shah, which brought his goal tally to thirteen for the season. The 1st goal came early in the first half when Shah picked-up a through pass from OM down the middle of the field and the other amidst some confusion in the opponents defense. We were very much in control of the game in the 1st half and play was very much concentrated in the opponent's half of the field. Our defense were marshaled by OM & Nik, while Azhar dictated play in the middle of the field. Shah and Azmi provided the fire power up front. The game ended with UKRV leading 2 goals to nil.

A new sets of 11 players came in to play in the 2nd half led by Captain Fauzi. KKM made some changes to their line-up too with the addition of some fast running young players to their team. KKM came back strongly and they were very much in control of the game in the second half launching attack after attacked which led them to score 3 goals in the second half. The first was a result of a free kick from just outside UKRV's penalty box. The free-kick was very well taken and the ball floated pass the defensive wall and into the right-hand corner of the goal post.

The equalizer resulted in KKM playing more cohesively as a team and made our defense worked overtime to breakdown their attack. They soon equalised through a series of well mounted attacks which left of defense in disarray. KKM then scored their third goal which gave them a well deserved 3 - 2 lead. The goal was a result of an individual effort; the player made a run from about 30 yards, dribbling past a couple of UKRV players before blasting the ball into the goal mouth.

Meanwhile UKRV could not make any headway in the middle of the park with Karuna having to play very much on his own due to lack of support. Upfront, UKRV's forward were always caught in off-side positions as KKM pushed their defense line up to the halfway line. UKRV should have used the flanks, but unfortunately did not. Azmi Kelate would have made the difference upfront with his fast running down the flanks, especially if he can control the ball. With KKM goalkeeper having this habit of getting off his line often, we should have scored enough goals from lobs from 20 to 30 yards. Azrul made proved this point when he scored the equalizer when UKRV was down 3 goals to 2. He brought the ball from the half way line and worked the left flank and struck the ball high from about 20 yards to beat the goalkeeper who was well out of his line then.

UKRV had their best team playing in the third half and were very much in control of the game. Nik Aziz gave us the lead early in the 3rd half before Amin, who only came in in the last 15 minutes of the game settled the score at 6 - 3 with 2 brilliantly taken goals. One was a result of one-to-one situation with the goalkeeper as a result of a through ball be Azhar down the middle of the field and the other a header

UKRV played well and made amends when they were a goal down. Even though the players do not get to play that often together, the players proved that experience do matters. Once again we had a very good turn-out of players, 23 in all and everybody had a chance to play, at least for 25 minutes. Thank you for all your support to the team. We will try to arrange another game before the Chinese New Year.

Syukur alhamudillah, it did not rain yesterday when we played away against UNIKES UTM at their field in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur. Oleh yang demikian, kita dapat bermain tiga half didalam keadaan relatively dry conditions walaupun ada area of the field yang "lembut" tapi very playable.

Syabas kepada pemain yang telah turun padang dan beraksi untuk UKRV hari ini. We had a couple of new parents playing for the first time for UKRV. The team memperolehi kemenangan yang membanggakan dengan jaringan 6 gol berbalas 3. The goals were scored by Nor Amin (2), Kubad (1), Azhar (1) in the second half of the match and the other two goals were scored by Ali and Karuna in the 3rd half. However, there were at least 3 to 4 clear chances at goal that we had that should have been converted into goals for the team.

The match saw the opposing team lost 2 players due to injury; one dislocated his elbow when he fell awkwardly after executing a tackle and the other suffered a hamstring injury after he attempted to head the ball a from a cross made by his team mate.

Unlike in the beginning of the season, our players have not been experiencing hamstring injury, muscle pull or tear or the dreaded torn ligaments lately. Even Garrett seems to have recovered from his nagging back injury and played well today.

In today's match, we were up against mostly youngsters. In the first half we were clearly unsettled. This could be due to the fact that we were playing with a new combination of players for the first time. Play was well balanced with both side attacking and defending. However our defense was quite susceptible and several times they were caught on the wrong foot. However the players managed to gel together towards the end of the 1st half and held the opposing team to a goalless draw.

Fauzi, our Captain deployed an entirely new set of players in the second half. We finally broke the goal deadlocked 5 minutes into the second half with a header scored by Nor Amin from a cross by Azhar from the right flank before Kubad scored on his debut for UKRV the 5 minutes later.

UNIKES scored an equaliser a few minutes after we scored our second goal. An attempt at goal by their left flanker rebounded from our goalkeeper Abdah and their forward latched onto the rebound to score their first goal.

Azhar added another goal for our team from a well placed kick to the right hand side corner of the goal mouth. It was his 4th goal of the season. Thereafter Amin scored the fourth goal. Our forwards than took a breather from launching attacks into the opposing half. UNIKES took this opportunity to score their second and third goal. Our defense were caught square at the back this time around. Their relatively younger and faster forwards were able to twist and turn around our defense to score their second goal and third goal before we tighten our back-line. The match ended 4-3 in the second half.

The players who played in the 1st half kicked-off the match in the 3rd half. This time around they played with a better understanding of each other movement and holding the ball well and we were able to increase our goal tally with goals from Ali & Karuna. Midway through the 3rd half, the players were replaced by the team that played in the second half before the referee finally blew the whistle at 7.15pm to end the match.

We had a good turnout of 25 players turning up to play for the team today. Saya rasa ada players yang tak berapa puas bermain. Apakan daya, cuma ada 1 1/2 hours of play time. Maybe we need to organise more games so that our players dapat bermain dengan sepuas-puasnya. I will try to organise another 4 friendly matches before my term as the Team Manager ends at the end of February 2010.

Tapi you all kena pray very hard that there would not be a tropical monsoon storm on Saturday, lest the field at UTM becomes unplayable on Sunday.

Our Kids at PKNS Football Academy Annual Age Group Tournament

Last weekend, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th December 2009, our kids at UKRC played in the PKNS Football Academy annual tournament. They represented UKRC in the Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 age group.

However UKRC weren't represented in the Under 14 & Under 16 age group .... what a pity. The U8, U0 and U12 did well in their group matches with the U8 and U10 reaching the quarter finals. The U12 team did better by reaching the semifinals of their age group competition.

UKRC Football Academy vs PKNS Football Academy - Football Friendly Matches

UKRC U8, U10 & U12 teams played a series of friendly matches against their similar age group of boys from the PKNS Football Academy at PKNS Sports Club field in Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya last Sunday 22nd November 2009.

The event had a good turnout of parents from both the academies, accompanying their kids to the game and giving moral as well as vocal support to their kids during the game. The weather was good for field soccer but we had some very, very light drizzle (macam snow tak menjadi) every now and then. The match started at 9 am and the final game ended at 12 noon.

The boys thoroughly enjoyed the morning and some just could not get enough playing the game. Some were seen begging their coaches to be fielded. The boys are already looking forward to play the next game which will be the RSC age group tournament to be held on 12th Dec 2009 at RSC field in Bukit Kiara and the PKNS age group annual tournament to be held the next day at PKNS Sports Club.

Sunday morning Futsal

Pagi tadi, Sunday 15/11/09 9am, 14 of us had a good futsal session at Ampang Sports Planet. We had a good 1 hour workout on the FIFA standard size futsal court (much bigger than "Wembley") and play was at times fast and furious. I was sweating profusely. It took me quite awhile getting used to the futsal court surface ...... bola rolls much faster than on grass and you can't kick a high ball unless you lift the ball up with your toes. Well, the score line was like .... 13 goals to 9. Ravin and Mohammad can't get enough .... dia orang nak main sampai 2 jam. Actually they came late, almost half an hour after we started at 9am. The team players planned to have the futsal session as often as we can given the current situation of "Wembley" in the months of Nov and Dec. The least pun we plan to play once a month. I sempat ambil 2 gambar saja before the battery ran out. Besides me, the following are the players who played this morning:

Match Report - UKRV vs KPJ APH

UKRV had a good game yesterday evening, 8th November 2009 and we had a good turnout of players too. Initially I thought we'll face the same problem we had playing against MBPJ when several players could not make it to the game for health reasons and other last minute turn of events that caused them to be unavailable for the match that night. But I was relieved when UKRV players started to trickle in after 5 pm. As usual, Christian was the first to arrive. He was already there at 4.30pm. Me and Garrett tiba pukul 4.50pm and soon after the rest. Our opponent, Kumpulan Perubatan Johor Ampang Putri Hospital (KPJ APH), also arrived late and by 5.30pm they had only 9 players. They managed to get a complete team just before the match started, while the others arrived after the game started.

We played on the same field we played against Maybank Vet. However this time around, the field was set-up with a rugby goalpost. Fortunately with Azhar's initiative, we had all the players to help replace the rugby goalpost with the football goal post on both ends of the field before the start of the game.

The game kick-off at 5.45pm and due to the lack of time, we only managed to complete 2 halves of play in 80 minutes with a ten minute break. The referee blew the final whistle at 7pm as soon as the Azan was heard from the nearby mosque.

Play was fast and furious in the 1st ten minutes and mostly concentrated on the left flank and the middle of the park. I could say that we had about 60% possession of the ball but could have had more goals scored in the second half if we had converted the opportunities presented to us on at least 3 or 4 occasion. Yes, Krish missed converting a penalty for the second time in his "profeesional" career with UKRV. Next time kena suruh dia pumping 20 kali depan goal post. "Dia orang sudah "bomoh" pintu gol-lah bang!" says Krish when asked why he missed the penalty ........... we had a good laugh (see some photos (lepas saya uploaded nanti) on the other two goals he missed, satu sebelah kiri and the other one sebelah kanan).

Shah gave us the lead after 10 minutes of play with a nice lob of the ball into the right hand corner of the opponents goal post after receiving a beautiful pass from Amin. On the 15th minute of play Shah returned Amin's favour and Amin scored through a well struck ball into the goal leaving the goalkeeper wondering where the ball went.

We seems to have relaxed a bit and slowed the paced of the game after scoring the two goals. KPJ APH players took advantage of the situation and launched several penetrating attack from the left and right flanks. Our central defender Hafiz, left back Meizi and Shariff "Roberto Carlos" managed to keep them at bay. However we weren't able to keep up with the pace of the attack .... nampak "injin dah mula berasap" (macam kereta F1 before the injin meletup ... keluar asap biru). Pusing punya pusing, Shariff terlepas bola and the opponent took advantage of the situation to score their first and only goal of the match.

After the break, we had an almost complete change of players with Garrett marshalling the defense back four, Krish and Nik providing the firepower up front with Ali and Raja on the left and right flanks. We had Bab playing in the middle of the field. The second set of players played very well and Nik Aziz kept a clean sheet in the second half making a couple of good saves, thus denying the strikers of the opposing team from scoring. He clearly frustrated them with some fine good saves of the ball on the goal line. We made some changes towards the end of the second half with Adzrin coming in for Jinggo and Azrul Kenit replacing Ammar. Azrul was presented with a goal scoring opportunity a couple of minutes after coming in and he added his name to the scoring list.

It was evident from this game that we were able to play against a much younger opponents, given that there are enough players for substitution, say between 17 to 19 players with the key players forming the backbone of the team. Tapi we have to be cautious too; not to run ourselves to the ground. Ingat tu, especially those that have crossed 40 and have not gone for a yearly complete check-up yet. We need to know our limits too. Let's enjoy the game.

Yes, our kekalahan yang ketiga for the year. We were beaten 5 goals to 2, but we had a good game in the first 2 halves. In the third half ...... kepenatan .... Match Report - UKRV vs MAYBANK VETERANS

Selepas beberapa kali terpaksa cancel & menangguh permainan disebabkan ketiadaan padang bola di sekitar lembah klang, we finally got a game going petang semalam. Thanks to Raja Radzmi who had worked extra hard the whole of last week trying to secure a football field around Klang Valley. After a dozen phone calls made to "owners" of football fields as far as Subang and Bangi, he finally managed to get Padang A at PULAPOL for our last football match before UKRV calls it a break from football activities during Ramadhan which would most likely begin on Saturday next week. He would have called Stadium Bukit Jalil had Padang A at PULAPOL had been unavailable ...... seriously .... that how bad we wanted to play yesterday, gian semacam aje.

We were initially scheduled to play against a team from Taman Melawati but since our game against Maybank Veterans that was scheduled for the 14th August was cancelled due to unavailability of the Maybank superb turf in Bangi, we decided to invite them for the game yesterday, Sunday 16th August 2009. Many thanks to NIK "Messi" Aziz for arranging the game against Maybank Veterans. Nik used to work in Maybank and he played for Maybank in the FAM League during his younger days .............. not that he is old now, masih muda lagi kan Nik .... chokeng !!!!.

We would normally have around 25 players for a friendly match but this time around only 16 players managed to turn up to play as the others had prior commitments especially when yesterday was the last weekend before fasting commences on 22nd August 2009 for the muslim members.

Ramai yang mengadakan atau menunaikan jemputan kenduri arwah di rumah sendiri, neighbour, mertua etc yesterday like Azrin and OM. Some were still nursing hamstring injuries and pains in the lower back & groins like those being experienced by Garrett, Mani, Ammar and Hisham. While there were also others who have other commitments like Mizei (auditing outstation bank branches), Azrul, Chris, Abdah (attending his post graduate classes) and Venu (habiskan thesis MBA) etc etc.

Even then we had to "loan" two players to Maybank because their players did not turn up on time (lupa nak minta "loan fees" dari depa ....... mahal tu, our 2 top players Nik and Karu were on "loan" to our opponent. Lepas tu score goal against us lagi ........... Karu pass bola kat Nik and Nik had to score ...... Karu did not want to score against me). That left us with only 14 players when we started the match and we had 15 players when Fauzi managed to arrived from KLIA just in time to play at the start of the match in the 2nd half.

The match which was scheduled for a 5.00pm kick-off finally got underway at quarter to 6.00 pm and the referee blew the final whistle at 7.20pm. We were blessed with good weather yesterday. It was fortunate that it had rained earlier at 3.00 pm. For the past 3 hari, hujan lebat with thunderstorm and lightning would start at 6.00 pm and doesn't let up till half an hour later. Tapi semalam, we were blessed with clear skies and a cool temperature. The conditions was just right for a game of football. Surprisingly there weren't any haze. The rain at 3.00 pm earlier must have cleared the haze.

In the absence of Fauzi our captain, who only managed to be at the field for the 2nd half of the match (tiba di KLIA at 4.30pm and made his way directly to the field), I had requested Azhar to be the Captain of the team for the match. He decided on a 4-1-4-1 playing formation, reminding the players to play the ball to the feet and have Amin as the lone striker. Our opponents had Amin checked with their offside trap several times. But whenever Amin got through, he gave the Maybank defense a hard time. Play was well balanced with both sides attacking and defending well in the 1st half. The ball was played throughout the field; left and right, up & down the field. The half ended with the score at 2-1 in our favour. Ravin scored once and Amin added 1 goal to the score line while Nik "Messi" Aziz @ "Shaolin I keeper", scored for the opposing side. By the way, Black is now "Shaolin III keeper".

We made some changes in the 2nd half, with Shah, Azmi, Karu and Black coming in to replace me, Bab, Amir and Ravin. Karu was "released" from "loan" when one of Maybank Veteran's player turned up just before the half time break. With fresh legs, UKRV were mounting attack after attack at the opponent goal area. We soon increased our lead with a goals from Amin & Shah after several attempt at goal. Soon after, Maybak Veterans managed to reply with a goal from a shot well taken from outside our penalty box. The score then stood at 5-2 before Shah again increased his personal goal tally to 9 as a result of a beautiful pass from Amin.

The 4-1-4-1 playing formation has suddenly now turned to 3-2-5 playing formation, with all attacking UKRV players eagerly trying to get on the score sheet. Just then Ravin came in for Karu and added his personal goal tally to 3 before Shariff "Bentara Guru", who was "released" from his central defensive role when Fauzi came on in the second half, scored 2 well struck goals from outside the penalty box to give UKRV a well deserved win with a 8 goals to 3 scoreline.

All in all, I must say that we had a very good game yesterday with plenty of goals. It was a win with the 2nd biggest margin so far (we defeated PKNS Football Academy Parents Team 8 goals to 1 a couple of months ago). UKRV goals were scored by Ravin (1) and Nor Amin (2) in the first half and again from Ravin (1) , Shah (2) and Shariff (2) our central defender in the second half (Fauzi, who says defender couldn't get their name in the top scorer's table). We had more than 3 clear chances at scoring goals but we were thwart by good defensive play by the Maybank players.

I let in a goal towards the end of the 1st half, a goal scored by our "loan" player to Maybank, yes!!!!!!! Nik Aziz. It was a one-on-one situation and he slotted a grounder to the right hand side of the goal mouth. I really should have gone straight for the ball coming out from my goal line (tak ada experience ........ badan pun sudah terlalu berat and my reaction pun slow). Maybank Veterans also added a couple more goals in the second half of the match. Black was keeping goal then. He did well to make some marvelous saves during the second half.

I rasa semua players berpuas hati dapat bermain at least 40 minutes of the match and enjoyed themselves tremendously. I know I did. We played 40 minutes in each half with a 10 minutes break between halves for the total duration of the match.

I must thank Garrett and his son, Aidit Alfian and Hashim for coming to the match to give the team moral support and to cheer on the team. My gratitude to the kids of some of our players (anak2 Murti, Raja, Shariff, Nik, Bab, Azmi and the others) for giving us a helping hand with the logistics.

So buat sementara waktu ni, kita kena tangguh dulu aktiviti2 bolasepak UKRV ke suatu masa yang akan ditentukan nanti ......... seperti kata Bentara Guru, kita akan mula balik bila ketupat & lemang dah habis ........ bila tu, I tak tahu. It depends on all of you members.

I heard that the training session for the kids at UKRC would still continue every Saturday & Sunday for an hour starting from 5.30 pm during the fasting months. Maybe the parents can have a kickabout at "Wembley" while the kids are having their training. Maybe I heard wrong.

Anyway saya ucapkan selamat menunaikan ibadah puasa di bulan Ramadhan to all our Muslim brothers. Pesanan saya, carilah Lailatulqadar di malam2 Ramadhan dan janganlah cari Nasi Kandar di siang hari ...... ha! ha! ha! ha!. Siapa nak belanja buka puasa bolehlah diwar2kan di Sembang-Sembang Di Sini.

TIGERS MAULED BY UKRV

UKRV has ended a series of football friendlies over the last 5 months with a big win over Maybank Veterans at Pulapol field yesterday evening. Our 8-3 victory was proof that our weekly training on every Sunday at “Wembley” is beginning to produce results.

The match which was supposed to kick off at 5pm was delayed due to the late arrival of players from both teams. UKRV players, as real veterans, we need to improve our punctuality in our future games. It is worse for the Maybankers as they have to call up their team members to play.

Finally, the match started at around 5.45pm, just a few minutes before the registration deadline for new players, Maybank Veterans managed to sign three players from UKRV. Nik Senior, Nik Junior and Karuna were promised a lifetime waiver on Maybank Platinum Credit Cards for playing for them.

The only notable change in our line up is that our team manager Din had to transform himself as a keeper. UKRV started the game aggressively with our players passing the ball really well. The accuracy of passes from Azhar to our players, made a huge threat to our opponents who may have underestimated our ability to play good football. A lapse in concentration in our defence has resulted in Nik Senior having a one on one opportunity with our keeper. Our keeper only had to say to Nik if you score, you’ll have to pay a monthly membership fee of RM60 instead of RM20. That’s reminder alone was good enough for Nik to kick the ball straight to Din.

UKRV realized that they needed to raise the tempo of the game and a beautiful one two one between Azhar, Amin and Ravin resulted in our first goal by Ravin. To our fans, this is not a typo error, yes Ravin scored our first goal when he placed the ball in the back of the net. As usual, we missed many opportunities before Amin added our second goal.

After the second goal it was our opponent’s turn to attack us. Din managed to save many long range attempts by their strikers and midfielders. A beautiful pass between Nik and his midfield created another opportunity for Nik to place the ball in our net. This time our manager/keeper was too late to remind Nik of the consequences of scoring goals against his own team.

UKRV will be a forming a panel to decide on any disciplinary action to be taken against Nik. If we were to follow the UKRV Football Act, Nik would have to pay a RM100,000 fine and he would be banned from playing football for the next 250 years. Nik, now you know why I decided to pass the ball to others when I had a similar opportunity. UKRV was leading 2-1 when the referee blew the whistle for half time.

It was a major boost for the team when they saw their team captain had just arrived from Tokyo in time to lead the team in the second half. It was indeed bad news for our opponents as Fauzi has strengthened our defence and the players were charged up to score more goals. Black took over the keeper’s role from our manager.

UKRV added six more goals in the second half with a brace from Shah and Sharif, Amin. Ravin (not a typo error) each bagged their second goal. Black was beaten twice by the Maybankers. Does anyone have a clue as to why our opponents like to shoot from afar every time Black is a keeper? Black kena mandi bunga lah kali ini.

Man of the Match was a tie between Sharif and Ravin. So if you would like to participate, please vote in our blog.

UKRC U11 NOJCFL 2009 Matches on 18-07-2009

The UKRC U11 team had a good outing last Saturday 18th July 2009, winning both their matches thus earning them 6 valuable points. With the 2 wins, UKRC U11 team move into 5th place in the Group A of the National Open Junior Community Football League 2009. The team played TTDI First Touch whom they trashed 16-0 in their previous encounter. But this time around the team only managed a 6 nil victory. TTDI First Touch has improved their game very much since the last encounter since they managed to reduce the scoreline by over 60%.

In the second game UKRC U 11 managed a 3 nil victory over an all Japanese outfit ASTAKA FC.

However, I personally feel that they should have done much more against the 2 lesser opponents. The team should have scored more goals given that both the matches was pretty much one-sided with the team having more than 70% possession of the ball and with play was most of the time concentrated in the opponent's half. UKRC U11 goalkeeper hardly handled the ball in both the matches.

The team kena main the game more "openly" and not get "crowded". Whatever happened to their short passing skills and players making spaces for themselves. Half way through the League and we still have players being given a foul for a throw-in. The players should be given the encouragement to play a "thinking" game. We need 2 to 3 players who can distribute the ball from the back and the middle of the field and dictate play and create open spaces.

The team should also make full use of set pieces opportunities like the corner kicks and free kicks, to create opportunities and chances to score goals. Kena try macam2 plan masa practise sessions. We have some "hard kicker of the ball in the team", they can try scoring from long range, and when playing against a weaker opponent, we should have used all the players available, thus giving them the game exposure they much needed.

Hey! wait a minute, these are 11 years old we are talking about ..... and I am asking them to play like adults, sorry. Anyway, congratulation to the players. They did a marvelous job winning the 2 matches. Keep up the momentum, practise hard and hopefully make much more improvement in your game as you would need them in the coming games against tougher opponents. I believe the team can make it to be among the top in the table standings.

Match Report - UKRV vs Butcher FC

This match report was written by Karuna as the regular writer was away on "tugas-tugas rasmi" hari ini. Thanks Karuna. An excellent report.

After merely missing entering the final on goal difference in the Venezuela Football Week Invitational tournament a fortnight ago, UKRV today played a friendly match against Butcher FC, a club which recently won the FA cup in the football league organized by Club Aman.

There were many challenges for UKRV in the built up to the game. The first test was for the UKRV players to play a match against a team which not only plays competitive football on a weekly basis but have so many young players in their early thirties .... or maybe even in their late twenties.

Secondly, this was the first 3pm kick-off match for UKRV. It was pretty obvious that our players were not used to the early kick-off time and many were evidently tired and out of sort. Our Captain Fauzi had to rush from a 9 a-side tournament to join the team and many parents had to similarly rushed back for the game against Butcher FC after a long day at MBPJ grounds (since 7.30 am) where their sons were participating in the U11 NOJC Football League 2009. The U11 played their last match for the day at 12.30pm and the match ended at 1.30pm. After a quick lunch, the players had to rush to UKRC field for the match against Butcher FC.

The late lunch menu of rojak, ais kacang, nasi lemak, asam pedas and what have you did not help the cause either. It goes to prove that we were real veterans and are not bothered by the early kick-off time.

Thirdly, we were without our regular goalkeepers. Our regular keepers were unable to play today due to other personal commitments thus forcing UKRV to start the match with BLACK as the stand-in goalkeeper (at this point we have not "unearthed" the jewel in the team yet ......).

As expected, it was a fast pace game from the moment the referee blew the whistle for the start of the game. Butcher FC fast game pushed UKRV to play more defensively. Within the first 15 minutes, Butcher FC were on the way to "butcher" UKRV by taking a lead of 2 goals to nothing.

When the late lunch finally got digested, UKRV players began to play like REAL VETERANS. A quick pass from OM to Karuna, resulted in a through pass to Amin who coolly placed the ball in the back of Butcher FC's net for UKRV first goal. Hmm, nasi lemak and rojak actually may not be a bad idea to boost stamina. A game which was initially one-sided has now turned into a more balanced match.

A lapsed in concentration resulted in Butcher FC's 3rd goal. Even an acrobatic dive by our keeper Black failed to keep the ball from going into the far post of his goal. Fauzi and OM, decided that we were giving too much space and decided to push the defensive line further up to limit the opponents movement. Hooray, that strategy works immediately and UKRV were beginning to have more possession of the ball and put more pressure on Butcher FC's goalkeeper. An error by their keeper gave our striker Amin an opportunity to score our second goal. Now all of a sudden, it was UKRV who were attacking from the left and right flanks through Amin, Mi, Bab and Raja. Butcher FC were now being butchered by UKRV. From another good move by our forward line, Mi Kelate had a one-on-one situation with only their goalkeeper to beat ....... but alas he failed to find the back of the net yet again. It must have been such a frustration for him not to score yet again given the opportunity to do so. Mi, nampaknya mu kena mandi bungalah .......... . The first half of the match ended in 3-2 scoreline in favour of Butcher FC.

At the end of the first half, Black decided to hang up his gloves after dia sudah penat making so many saves from the many attempts at goal by the Butcher FC strike force. Yang peliknya kenapa Black tangkap bola pakai lutut dan bukannya dengan tangan? Unsolved mystery. Ni case CSI .......!!!

In the second half we started with fresh legs with the introduction of a new set of players with Nik Aziz volunteering to become the goalkeeper. Butcher FC started the game aggressively yet again with the intention of extending their slim lead by attacking from all sides and angels. Our defense back four controlled by Mizi, Murthy, Azrin and Mohd were able to contain the fast pace game at the beginning of the half but cracks soon begin to show in our defense after countless attacked by the opposing team.

The first strike at goal by Butcher FC was well saved by Nik and the fans thought he had just made a lucky save. The avalanche of attempts at goal by Butcher FC from all angles as they searched for their fourth goal was time and again stopped by Nik. Suddenly the fans are seeing the emergence of a "Shaolin Soccer" goalkeeper. They were cheering Nik on by shouts and chants of “Gomo Kelante Gomo”. The endless attack by Butcher FC resulted in their fourth goal being scored from another defensive error. The score remained at 4-2 till the second half ended. The UKRV players started the 3 half of the match aggressively and we soon saw tackles flying everywhere. Nampaknya semuanya dah lupa yang this was a friendly match. It was also clearly evident that our players were really drained then. My salute to the match referee who managed to handle the match well before it really got out of hand. My hats off to Mizei for his leadership in handling our players so professionally. The referee blew the final whistle with the final scoreline at 4-2 in favour of Butcher FC.

This could be the toughest game that UKRV has played so far and I must say that we have passed the test with flying colours. Akhirnya, kaweh nak cakap “ A Blessing in Defeat” as we were surprised by a revelation of our new found hero by chance, Nik "Van der Sar" Aziz (tukar nama dari "Messi"). Nik "Van der Sar" was clearly our "Man of The Match" without doubt this afternoon. But he has a problem now. He has to decide whether he wants to be a "Van der Sar" or a "Messi" in the future games. Gomo Kelate Gomo.

PS from the regular writer - Unfortunately, hari ini tiada siapa ambil gambar. So I am on a mission to get an alternate cameramen so that this does not happen again. Karuna, you need to do this on a regular basis, brilliant reporting and once again many thanks.

National Open Junior Community Football League 2009

The UKRC U11 team that is participating in the National Open Junior Community Football League 2009 was blessed with 2 wins in their Group A matches played today, Saturday 4th July 2009, that took place at 8.30 am and 12.30pm against PNSB FA and ASTAKA FC respectively.

The match against PNSB FA resulted in a 2 nil scoreline in favour of UKRC. Both goals were scored in the 2nd half of the match. Shahrul of UKRC scored with a well taken shot from well outside the penalty box. The opposing goalkeeper was well off his line after taking a clearance kick when the goal was scored. Quick thinking by Shahrul resulted in the goal being scored.

The second goal was an own goal as a result of a deflection from a well taken cross by "Angah" from the right flank. Angah made a good run down the right flank and made a cross to the middle of the goal mouth. The well taken cross took a deflection off one of the defenders in the goal mouth resulting in an own goal.

In the second game UKRC did not exactly played well. Nampak macam "berat" aje permainan UKRC. Maybe this was a result of a long 3 hours wait for the game. It could also be that the players have been stuffing themselves with too much food during the break or maybe they are too familiar with ASTAKA after having played them a couple of times before this. Anyway ASTAKA took the lead in the 1st half before UKRC recovered with 2 goals in the second half, one each from Shahrul and "Angah". The second goal by Angah was a beaut ........ a bicycle kick goal that took a deflection of the goal post and went into the goal mouth. It's the best goal that has been scored in the tournament so far. Must catch the Astro match highlights on TV next week to see the beautiful goal.

All in all, it was a good outing for UKRC, collecting 6 points from the 2 matches and putting them in the 6th position in the Group A league table. Congratulations to the UKRC U11 players and to coach Kamil Majid and coach Rashidi for a job well done.

National Open Junior Community Football League 2009

In the last Saturday 27th June 2009 NOJCFL 2009 matches held at MBPJ Field in Petaling Jaya, UKRC U11 lost to Mahkota FA 2-4 and drew with Kido Kickers Academy 2-2. It seems that there was a dispute in the UKRC U11 vs Mahkota FA match. The dispute was that Mahkota FA had 12 players at one point during the game as a result of a confusion in players substitution. An official complaint had been lodged by the UKRC team management with the organiser of the league.

To the supporters of UKRC U11, please be informed that the UKRC U11 team will play against PNSB FA and Astaka FC on Saturday 4th July 2009 at 8.30am and 11.30 am respectively at the same venue.

Match Report - Venezuela Football Week Tournament

Ah! ..... Venezuela Football Week Tournament to commemorate Venezuela's Independence Day ...... if you can call it a tournament at all ..... more like a Saturday morning friendlies if you asked me. We were told to be there at HKL field by 8.30am but batang hidung organisers pun tak nampak and there was nothing to indicate that there was going to be a football tournament to be held there that morning. We were supposed to have the match fixture drawn at 8.30 am but ........ kena tunggu, punya tunggu, punya tunggu .......

I take my hats off to the team dari Subang Jaya led by their team manager Bathu. They arrived early, 8.15am, saw them at the car park. They were very well organised. They recce for a good spot under the tree, pitched their tents, laid down their tikar plastic and fixed their table & chair DIY style ....... and by 9 am Subang Jaya team were all ready ......... the team were already warmed-up and ready to go and play ball ......... but their opponent pulak belum arrive lagi..... how to play ball lah dei!

Time was 9am, tapi batang hidung organiser pun tak nampak. Orang Malaysia selalu kena kutuk kerana tak keep time, but from the experience of last Saturday, orang Malaysia lebih arif tentang keeping time as demonstrated by the Subang Jaya team. Tak silap saya pukul 9.15am baru organiser tiba. Terhegeh2 pulak tu. Match fixture ke-mana, draw ke-mana .............. entah lah.

We were told that it would be a veteran's game. It was definitely not. Some of our opponents were in their late twenties and early thirties (ada yang rambut bermacam-macam color lagi dan bertindik pulak tu !!!!) ..... but its OK kita boleh terima main dengan sesiapa pun, tapi janganlah bagi tahu kita rules ada age limit, kesian players kita yang below 35 tak dapat main ............

To make matters worse, the match schedule was changed and we had to play our game earlier because one of the team that was supposed to play the first game of the "tournament" weren't complete, tak cukup kuorum...... ada yang belum sampai lagi (imagine that, sudah pukul 9.30am) nama aje orang yang sentiasa keep time ....... maybe depa ni yang dah "Malaysianise" kot !

Anyway we only have ourselves to blame because we weren't exactly ready ourselves pun when we were called to play the 1st game at 9.40am. We were told initially that our game will start at 10am. So we took our time to get ready. Ada diantara kita pun yang lambat sampai ke padang. Yang dah sampai awal pun tak ready. We really need to be serious with our time and to get ready as soon as we arrive on the field. Saya telah berpesan melalui SMS, at least twice before match day, minta pemain sampai pukul 8.30am dan game akan bermula pukul 9am. Tujuan saya minta datang awal is because we need ample time to get ready ......... kan dah OTAI (especially the parents), engine diesel pakai carburettor pulak tu, bukan fuel injection, nak start pagi2 pun susah. Maybe ada kemungkinan tergendala dengan hal2 masing2, maklumlah dah berkeluarga, ada2 saja yang came up at the last minute......... kita merancang tapi ada kuasa yang lebih besar yang menentukan segala2nya.

Anyway, in future, kita semua kena bersedia sebaik sahaja tiba di padang .... kerana in a tournament (bukannya friendly game), anything can happen .... like the last minute change in the match fixture last Saturday, mula2 diberitahu UKRV akan bermain pada pukul 10 pagi ......... tiba2 diberitahu pula kena main 20 minit lebih awal ...... and our unpreparedness to start play was clearly evident in the 1st half of our match against the South Americans. Nampak macam berat aje! Permainan kurang teratur, not like in our normal friendly game.

But we still did manage a 1-1 draw against the South American team, thanks to a well taken free kick by Azhar. But I personally feel that we could have won the game if we were more organised at the start of the game. Bukan bagus sangat pun depa main. 1st half memanglah we were on our back heels. Tapi masuk second half, kita dah boleh berentap dengan mereka. I forget to tell u all, match ini macam main 9 aside, tak ada offside rule.

We only had a 30 minutes rest before we had to play the 2nd game against a team that call themselves Black Eagle Football Club; a team of youngsters ... but UKRV under the guidance of OM, managed to get back to its normal game of play in that match but the opposition proved to be a tough nut to crack. We need to re-assess our front line as we weren't effective in that area of play in that game. But we finally managed to secure a goal through OM's well taken penalty kick that was given as a result of a foul on Amin in the penalty box. It was a grounder to the right side of the goal mouth. The keeper did not have a chance. We won the game 1-0.

We topped group A with the South American team with 4 points each but had to miss out the final due to goal difference. The South Americans had it easy against a depleted Black Eagle FC ........ you see, the Black Eagle players were playing a back-to-back matches as half of them were playing for 2 different teams in the "tournament" (their other team was in Group B). By the time they played against the South Americans after our game, they have already ran themselves to the ground ... and by the time we decided to leave the field of Hospital Kuala Lumpur while Black Eagle FC vs Venezuela match was in progress in the 1st half, the score was already 4-0 in Venezuela's favour.

Well, ini "tournament" pertama kita as a team ........ tapi yang pentingnya, we did not lose any of our matches but we could have won both matches. There are definitely lessons to be learnt, like being on time for a game, for a start. We need to be on time as this would give us ample time to get ready for a match irrespective whether it is a tournament or a friendly match .... otherwise kita akan merasai babak2 yang serupa semasa 1st half dalam game pertama dengan team dari South America tu.

Tapi yang cantiknya kita dapat adjust ourselves quickly to the situation. Maybe it is due to the experience that we have gained from playing the game in the past. Itu yang dapat memberi kita an edge over our opponents. Our team is strong and is very capable of playing good football and we have it in us to beat the best if we want to...........so what do we want to achieve out of playing together for UKRV? itu semua sendiri mau tanya lah!

Tahniah to all the players for showing a 100% commitments on the field, main bermatian untuk kemenangan UKRV. Thank you for coming and playing for UKRV. We need to keep this up.

Amidst a slight drizzle after hujan lebat at 4 pm, UKRV players started trickling into UKRC Club house slightly after 4.30pm. By 5 pm most of our team players were already at the club house getting ready for the kick off at 5.30pm. A few though could only make it after the kick off at 5.30pm thus missing on the group photo session.

OM took the players to the field for a warm-up session amidst the slight drizzle. "Saya suka cuaca macam ni" kata Adzrin ...... ya saya faham ..... memang sesuai untuk berbagai jenis sukan. Tapi petang tu kita main bolasepak.

After the warm-up session (rasanya macam dah berlari setengah jam) ..... apa lagi tiba lah masa yang dinantikan, group photo session. Kali ini, Mizei, Shah, Kamil, Rustam and Ali tak sampai on time. So depa tak ada dalam gambar. Mani & Abang Jo ada, tapi segan nak bergambar. Saya pun tak ada dalam gambar, sebab kena ambil gambar. Here is the photo, semuanya handsome2 belaka. Cuma yang pakai baju light blue tu comel.Sesiapa yang berminat, sila hubungi saya ........... berminat nak beli pemain saja !

We kick-off with quite a balanced team of players with Chris, Fauzi, Om & Muhammad at the back and Abdah in goal. Azhar and Karu played in midfield. Bab and Garrett were on the flanks with Shah and Azmi playing in the forward line.

We needed to guage the abilities of our opponents and make adjustments if necessary as this is the first time we are facing them. Generally we had possession of the ball 70% of the time in the 1st half. Play was concentrated in the middle and in the opponent's half. We used the middle and the left flanks in most of our attack. Azhar, our midfield general, distributed the ball well and Karu managed to win and keep possession of the ball in the middle. We had several opportunities at goals with through balls down the middle and crosses from the left flanks.

The 1st goal came quick enough in the 10th minutes through a well taken strike by Karu in the penalty box. It was a simple goal, but a well struck one leaving the keeper well beaten. UKRV dominated play after the 1st goal with endless surge forward by the midfield and the forwards down the middle and the left flanks where Garrett was playing.

It didn't take long for Azhar, our midfield general, to see an opportunity at goal. Azhar had ample time to strike a well taken shot from well outside the penalty area. A well taken goal ................ into the left hand corner of the goal post, leaving the keeper clutching air. Azhar struck the ball with his instep aje ...... power tu bang, from 30 yards.

Saya tak sempat nak ambil gambar kesemua gol2 yang di score pemain kita kerana too excited melihat permainan UKRV....... apa kata orang putih ........... mesmerising ....... (orang melayu kata menakjubkan lah!) .................. pemainan yang penuh dengan skillfull short passing, through passes, sliding tackling, ball dribbling skills, burst of speed macam Ronaldo, keeping tight possession of the ball .......................macam2 ada. Pada hal masa practise, kita main kat padang sekangkang kera aje. OTAI2 UKRV ni memang hebatlah.

Tapi kita terpaksa juga melupakan beberapa "adegan2", "moments of truth" dan "incidents yang mengecewakan", ha! ha! ha! paham2 ajelah. Ianya berlaku ......... mungkin disebabkan kehilangan konsentrasi seperti "tendangan penalty" and situasi "one-on-one" dengan goalkeeper, situasi "open goal mouth" yang "termiss dengan tak sengaja", atau pun juga telah "dikompromi dengan pihak lawan". Tak apa, kita ma'afkan .................. pumping 100 kali bang next training !.

Gol ketiga saya "termiss", kerana terpaksa ke T _ N _ A _ , hari hujan bang, sejuk. Tapi Abang Jo beritahu Bab scored from a free kick. Bagus betul engkau Bab, tiap2 perlawanan engkau score (orang Melaka suka cakap engkau/aku). Right on brother ...... fetish stokin, siap engkau Bab, dah ada peminat di Flickr. Shah added another goal towards the end of the 1st half and the score remains at 4-0 at break time.

So 2nd half line-up pun main sikit punya confident lah. Sudah leading 4-0. Depa enjoy sakan lah. We were so dominant in the 2nd half that it was surprising that we only scored 2 goals. Mana tak surprise ................... banyaknya goal opportunities yang "termiss".

Rustam kept goal in the 2nd half, while the back four consist of Venu, Fauzi, Shariff and Adzrin while Murti, Black, Ismail and Azrul played in midfield. Krishnan and Amin played upfront. Our striker Amin scored both goals in the 2nd half. The first goal was a well executed flick of the ball over the head of the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation and the other was well struck "on-the-run' kind of ball down the left flank, another typical Amin's goal (catch me if you can defender!). A superb goal. We could have added a third, fourth, fifth goal ............ tapi apakan daya, rezeki banyak tu aje in the 2nd half.

Krishnan missed the spot kick. Pada kebiasannya, Krish ni very precise with his kicking .............. siap boleh place the ball where he wants to. Tapi petang tu dia gugup sedikit ............... tak, dia gugup banyak ! Maklumlah dah 20 tahun tak tendang penalty. Nasib baik bukan "European Cup" final. Kalau tidak sure saya panggil Mr. Perez dan transfer Krish dari REAL Veterans ke REAL Madrid petang semalam.

Jeng ! jeng ! jeng !, then comes the 3rd half and the opponent had to score a goal just when I am playing. What luck ! PKNS FAPT came back at us in the 3rd half. I thought they were going to score a dozen. But we contained them with our back four of Ammar, Shariff, Mizei and Kamil with Abdah again in goal. I postioned myself in midfield (tak ada orang suruh pun, pilih sendiri position tu) with Karu, Raja Radzmi and Chris.

Raja Radzmi has turned into a very skilfull midfielder and has gained much confidence in his play ..... ini bakal jadi midfield maestro dia ni. Nama pun Raja, sahlah tu Raja Bola. If I remembered well, the forwards then was Ali and Hashim. Play was dominated by PKNS in the first few minutes and we were on our back heel during the first 5 minutes. PKNS FAPT took several shots at goal but was well saved by Abdah. The goal had to come. It finally did after about 5 minutes of play.

Tapi setelah kita settle down kita managed to bring play into their half with Raja and Karu getting through balls to the forwards down the middle. Tak boleh main flanks kerana tak ada yang boleh lari. We made some changes with Garrett, Ismail, Azmi & Shah coming in. It somehow had to happen ...................Azmi came running towards the goal after a through pass, the goalkeeper came out, there was a clash of bodies ................. and the ball trickled into the goal mouth. Tahniah MI, finally the goal came, after all the Mi ......sses. Shah then added a goal towards the end of the 3rd half, bringing the final tally to 8 for UKRV and 1 to PKNS FAPT.

But I must take off my hat to PKNS FAPT. With a team that is half of our squad, they were able to last the 3 halves and made some very good play down the flanks. Ariff was superb in the middle for PKNS and their sweeper played magnificently. I tought they played well in the 3rd half and could have scored a couple if not for our good defence and our goal custodian.

Gentlemen, I would say the game was a good warm-up match for this Saturday's game. This Saturday's game would be a real test of our fitness. I think we are already ok with our style of play. It would be excellent if our "midfield generals" dictates the tempo of play and flow of the ball to suit our players ability.

Though we often hear OM, Mizi, Fauzi, Azhar, Garrett, Murti shouting instructions on the field and asking for the ball when helping the others, the rest needs to be a bit more vocal too (me included) and support our team mate who has possession of the ball.

Yang ada ball possession tu, pass the ball to your team mates. Kadang2 kita tak mahu pass to certain players, takut kehilangan bola. Well mistakes made, are mistakes to be learnt. Kalau tak buat mistakes mana nak improve. Yang pandai ajar yang tak berapa pandai. Encourage them and give vocal support.

Ada OTAI2 yang dah lama tak main; mana nak tenguk bola, mana pulak nak tenguk kawan nak pass .........Kita kena bagi confidence kat team mates kita ni. Again yang pandai ajar yang tak berapa pandai. Matlamatnya, get everybody to play well enough to make football enjoyable for us. Kalau dia dah pandai main nanti, senang sikitlah yang dah pandai tadi on the field. Yang tak pandai tu jangan pula memandai pulak and marah bila kena tunjuk ajar, kenalah selalu practise and get fit. Yang mengajar tu, tegurlah dengan bersopan ................ ni bapak budak bang!.

I welcome onboard the new players who had their 1st game last Sunday; Venu Gopal, Ammar and Ali . Hope you had an enjoyable game and don't forget to pay your monthly dues, ha! ha! ha! and keep the UKRV flag flying high and .................that goes to everybody in the team.

Oh! yes before I forget, thank you Rashidi and Abang Jo for the helping hand with the drinks, jerseys, football and match fee collection. I would really feel lost and unable to cope without your help. And also to the player's "Other & Better halves" who came in full force with their children to support their husbands.

.... and thank your to the ever present Aidit ....... walaupun dia mai lambat, tapi dia tetap mai jugak to our game ...

What a fantastic turnout by the UKRV players. UKRV sekarang mempunyai 35 "playing" members. Out of 35, two cannot make, 33 players came ...... and guess what 31 played (Abang Jo and Mani could not play because of injuries). Bayangkan 31 orang pemain beraksi dalam 3 halves. Thank you guys for the largest turnout ever ................ and we commemorate it with our biggest margin of victory so far to-date ..... UKRV -

National Open Junior Community Football League 2009

I was there this morning with the Mrs at MBPJ Football field behind A&W to lend my support to the UKRC U11 team who were having their league game this morning against PNKS Football Academy at 9.30am.

Arrived at the field at about quarter past nine. The U11 squad under the charge of coach OM was being given the last minute briefing by the coach when we arrived. The parents whose sons are in the U11 squad turned up in full force to give their support to the team (Mizei, Arin, Murti, Mohammad, Fauzi, Rustam, Black, Aidit and Hashim, some with their "other halves" and siblings ........)

The game with PKNS started as scheduled at 9.30am. UKRC U11 was wearing their blue jersey while their opponent was in red outfit. PKNS toook the game to UKRC in the first few minutes at the start of the game before our U11 boys got to settle down and got themselves organised and come into the game. PKNS was the favourite at the start to win this game but our boys manage to come out on top with a 2-1 win. PKNS must be wondering what went wrong with their team this morning. Maybe their boys got up from the wrong side of the bed this morning.

The UKRC U11 boys played well against PKNS. Unlike in the previous match against KBRB last week, the boys "PLAYED WELL AS A TEAM" this time around. They were able to confine the ball play in PKNS half most of the time. The defence covered the goal area well and did not waste time clearing the ball out of danger quickly. They chase and challenged for every ball well and left the PKNS forwards wondering what they would need to do to break the UKRC defence.

Our forwards did quite well to hold on to the ball especially our no. 9 and 11. They played quite well. However they could have been more effective if more support could have come from the middle of the field. Except for the defence, most of our forwards and midfield players needs improve on their shooting skills and to try to score goals from outside the penalty box when the oportunity arises.

Well, our boys finally had their break late in the 1st half scoring a goal from a free kick just outside the penalty box. It well a well taken and precise free kick and the oppossing goalkeeper could not prevent the ball from going into the back of his net.

PKNS on the other hand have a few good footballer with excellent individual ball control skills, but they lacked teamwork and understanding among the players. But when they clicked as a team on one particular occassion, they managed to score the equaliser. Their goal come midway through the second half. The PKNS move started from the half way line and their winger made an excellent shot at goal from the right side of the penalty box and left our goalkeeper clutching air. It was a momentarily loss of concentration of our defence.

The UKRC U11 team then scored their second goal from a loose ball situation inside the penalty box about 8 minutes before the game ended. After the second goal, our boys managed to take possession of the ball most of the time and the score remained at 2-1 in our favour till the final whistle. The U11 squad played their second game at 12.30pm. They drew 1-1 against YFA, the favourite team to win the tournament. I was not able to watch the game as I have to pick up my kids from British Council. The boys must have done well to draw with YFA.

I honestly believe this U11 squad can go far in this tournament as long as they display good team spirit and excellent teamwork helping out each other in the field. A two hours alternate day practise session per week on the field with particular emphasis on shooting skills, ball control and ball passing skills, free kicks and corner kicks would definitely help the team to perform better in their upcoming weekly matches. I am currently documenting UKRV Player's Profile to have them displayed as slideshow on this blog. So far I have managed to document 3 of the players. I would over time add a couple more each day/week. The process would be slow and I would need time to take a good photo shoot of each one of you , edit it if necessary and then write a short bio. National Open Junior Community Football League 2009

After Suhail's STA-MILO tennis monthly medal held on Sunday 7th June 2009 at Kelana Jaya Tennis Complex, the family decided to have a snack at A&W Drive-in in PJ. Dah lama tak makan Coney Dog. This A&W Drive-in was my favourite joint ( its still is, A&W yang lain I tak nak pergi, only this one I would go), way back when Federal Highway was a 2 lane road in 1976. Tapi Coney dia dah rasa lain sikitlah and they don't chill the root beer mug like they used to back then.

Anyway, when we arrived there, I remembered that the National Open Junior Community Football League matches were being played at the MBPJ padang behind A&W. After dropping the family off at the restaurant, I decided to pergi tenguk and give support to UKRC U11 boys whom I thought would be playing a game then, around 12.30 pm.

Yes, I was right, I came at the right time. The match against Kelab Bolasepak Remaja Bangsar (KBRB) was in progress. The UKRC U11 team had earlier played against Shah Alam FC and were held to a 2-2 draw. If not for a last minute goal by Shah Alam FC, they would have won 2-1. As I was having the camera with me I decided to snap a few photos of the match in progress with the intention of documenting it in the UKRV blog later on. Click below to view them.

Our UKRC U11 team is playing in Group A of the competition. They will be playing a total of 22 games on a home & away basis but at the same venue till October 2009. So far they have played 5 matches. They won 2 matches, drew 2 matches and lost their opening match against Kota Damansara. They recorded their biggest win against TTDI 1st Touch with a 16-0 scoreline. I think their opponent need to change their name ........ 1st Touch reminds me of our first date when we experienced our "first touch" ......... I would suggest that UKRV team members gives moral support to the U11 boys by cheering them on during their matches even though our kids might not be in the U11 grouping. What say you, jadi bang?

Match Report - vs NEXT FC (formerly known as Subang Jaya Veterans)

...................well! gentlemens, veterans they are not, but it wasn't a problem to our team of diehard OTAIs, was it? Are we complaining here! Kita menang with 2-1 scoreline didn't we. It goes to prove that you guys are the real "Champions". Fantastic.

I did indicate my surprise to their team Captain Ronald; I told him that it was a veteran's team that we were expecting to play against ............. however the explanation given is that the team of veterans has undergone so much changes recently that they are now called NEXT FC.

Anyway, itu semua tidak mendatangkan apa-apa masa'alah kepada pemain UKRV betul tak? Kita masih mampu mempersembahkan permainan yang sungguh mantap & bermutu tingggi sehingga goalkeeper kita complained yang dia orang kena bayar RM10 match fee tapi tak dapat banyak peluang pegang bola (bukan tangkap ya!) in the 2nd and 3rd half. Tak apa, nanti masa hari practise kita bagi dia orang tangkap & kutip bola banyak2 bila kita practise shooting goals.

Tapi yang pastinya, kesemua pemain kita yang lama tak main football at this competitive level tu telah mula sedikit demi sedikit meningkatkan level of confidence mereka dan "mendisplaykan' (ma'af ya Bentara Guru, betul tak pengunaan bahasa tu?) sekali sekala football skills mereka yang terpendam selama ini seperti body swerve & turn, block and sliding tackle, ball control skills, floating the ball into the 18 yard area from the corner kick etc etc ..................... overhead bicycle kick aje yang belum! Ini Azrin kena cuba dulu. Malaysia boleh bang! Azrin pun boleh! Below is the group photo who played that night. Some are missing though, kerana datang lambat.

Walaubagaimana pun kita perlu stay clean walaupun beberapa kali kita di "ganasi" (especially StevenG, Shah & Amin). It shows you guys are good and the only way they can keep you in check are with all those "dirty tricks". We must stay calm and "toy" around with them. Tapi kita kena juga bermain aggressive jika situation memerlukan kita berbuat demikian. Aggressive does not mean kita main jahat/kotor ....... aggressive means we keep winning the loose and 50/50 ball dan committed to keeping posession of the ball. Body tackle tu biasalahkan, but rampant and tackle with bad intention to hurt should not be tolerated. Let the your Captain take it up with the referee. Kalau it is too much and the referee is "one-sided", we just need to walk off the pitch. No point getting ourselves hurt and in turn trying hard to hurt them. In the end tak jadi main bola nanti.

Coming back to the game; our "hard & tough" Fauzi captained the side in the first half. He commanded play from the back with Mohd, "Bentara Guru" Shariff and Chris forming the back four and Rustam keeping check in goal. And as usual, the 1st half was fast and furious. Ball possession was about equal on both sides. But I personally feel that our midfield was a bit too crowded. We could have spread play a bit more. Murti, Azhar, StevenG and Bab "Veron" was dictating play in the middle with Shah "Rooney" and Azmi providing the "fire power" upfront.

We could have done much better if we have covered both the right and left flanks well and fly in the crosses into their 18 yards box for the forwards to come in from behind and try to score. They did not have tall defenders like when we faced ISKL, so I feel the strategy might have worked well in our favour. We could have StevenG and Bab "Veron" providing the crosses in from the left and right side of the field. They were "holding" tight to Shah and the only way to get them out of that position would be to spread the ball play and lure them to the flanks. Well!, those are my thoughts ................

We finally scored a goal through Bab "Veron", Man!!!!!! what a thumping header. It was a well struck header from a well taken corner kick by "StevenG". The goal came half way through the first half. It was a 'beaut", well done Bab (luckily you cukur sebelum the match lah brother!, kalau ada rambut walaupun 1/2 inchi, the ball might have been deflected above the goal post!). A very well taken header and their goalkeeper was "temporarily blinded" by the reflection of the floodlight on your ........ tolong habiskan sentence ni ya. Tapi malang sekali, gambar tak menjadi, sekali lagi disebabkan light reflection from the stadium floodlight. Anyway it happened at the other end. Next time kena bawa tele lens lah pulak!

Tapi, apa pasal kita punya goal celebration seems to be a very "muted" affair bro??? (maybe dah jadi otai sekarang ni dan setelah score banyak sangat goal pada masa muda dulu ....... dah tak enjoy celebrating the goal yang kita score lagi ke?). Larilah macam kapal terbang lepas score goal tu! Buat "John Travolta" punya stance ke ......... kena createlah goal celebration, bolehlah teman-teman yang kat luar padang ni tumpang sekaki masa celebration tu!

............ boringlah, they had to equalise about 5 minutes later through their "fast" right winger. Itu pun kira "fluke" goal ..... the ball floated into the 6 yard box from the right hand side of the field by their winger; somehow it glanced the back of the head of one of our defender and went into the back of the goal. Our keeper was somewhat out of position, otherwise it should have been an easy pick by our keeper.

The second half saw a new set of players taking the field led by our ever present and reliable "Maestro" Mizi. He did well to organise play in the second half, putting the available players in their right position of play. We spread out the ball play and had several opportunities after breaking through their defence with through balls to Amin ................. had the timing of the through ball been better, we might have score a couple more goals in the second half.

With our backline comprising of OM, Mizi, Nik "Messi" Aziz and Kamil commanding play from the back, we took possession of the ball most of the time, switching play from left to right and vice versa. Raja Radzmi, Karu, Black and Azrin covered the midfield well, while Amin and Azrul provided the forward drive.

The second half saw our second goal scored through a free kick. I knew OM was going to take the kick as it is his favourite distance to shoot for goals (I had the unfortunate experience of facing his kick as a goalkeeper from that distance during the a Parents Team match against UKRC (dia main untuk UKRC masa tu) ................ OM is so precise and accurate from that distance (just outside the penalty box) and angle walaupun ada wall in front of him.

Kita combined the 2 sets of players from the 1st and 2nd half untuk bermain in the 3rd half and made some substitution half way through the 3rd half. In this way we were able give every player ample opportunities to "exhibit" their footballing skills and get use to match play football. Abdah stood in as goal keeper in the 3rd half and Hashim was given a position at the front. Play was mostly done in their half during the 3rd half. Again, we created quite a few chances and came close to scoring a third goal if not for the goal post.

Did you notice that UKRV has slowly turn to becoming a close knit group that can totally espouses camadarie that will forge bonds between the players. The bond among the players has been cleary demonstrated and shown on the field, for example, when a player makes a mistake, macam passing tak berapa betul, saya tak nampak yang lain bising atau menyumpah; sebaliknya saya nampak everybody tolong each other and I sincerely hope this will carry on .......... tapi yang buat mistake tu kenalah belajar tak buat selalu sangat, penat kawan tu bang nak cover!.

It was a good turnout by the team members. Kesemuanya 26 orang turn-up (yang main dan yang tak main oleh sebab yang tertentu). Thank you for your support to UKRV.

Congratulation to all players for the fine display of footballing skills and good sportmanship. I would also like to welcome Kamil (our son's under-11 coach) to the team. Terima kasih saya ucapkan kepada the ever present Abang Jo and Rashidi for assisting me and their invaluable services to the team off the field. Besides Abang Jo and Rashidi, I have decided to rope in the services and Raja Radzmi and Black to help organise and manage the Team. I hope this arrangement is ok with the team players.

Many thanks also to the spouses and their children that were present that night and who has given their undying support they gave to the team and to their beloved other half. Their support has given their other half the passion to play well last night.

Thank you also to you Aidit for your support ........ mana lagu kita? kalau dah ada, boleh bicang dengan Azrin. Azrin penyayi utama kita ....... selain dari bermain di padang, Azrin akan lead the chorus support semasa permainan berlansung.

Tapi kalau ada photo printer sendiri, boleh lah cetak banyak2 and distribute kat kawan2. amal jariah.

Match Report (practise match vs UKRC Football Academy U16

UKRV played in the 3rd series of practise matches against UKRC Football Academy U16 team last Sunday 31st May 2009. The match started at 10.45am and ends around 11.45 am. The players who played against an understrength U16 side includes Mizi, Shah, Garrett, Nik, Azmi, Azrul, Chris, Karu, Krishnan, Raja Radzmi, Rustam, Fauzi, Ali Hanafiah (a new player - son playing for U11) and aided by our guest player Michael.

UKRV players yang lain seperti saya, Amir, Ravin, Murti, Abang Jo, Black & Mohammed turut hadzir bersama, tapi tak dapat beraksi kerana we were nursing some injuries sustained in the match against Subang Jaya the previous Sunday. The game ended with a score of 2-1 in UKRV favour with Karu scoring both goals, one in each half.

The whole idea behind this game that we try to have once a forthnight is to give match exposure to our sons in the U16 team. At the same time UKRV , which is basically the parents team, needed this game to keep their fitness in check and have match practise on a football pitch of the actual size (kita hanya boleh main one touch football di 'Wembley'). So hopefully, it would be a win-win situation for both sides. Saya rasa 2 halves of 25 minutes each sudah memadai untuk latihan bersama ini. Lebih dari itu, tak boleh tahan kerana matahari sedang naik, kena standby ambulan pulak !

Friendly Match vs Subang Veterans - Ahad 7/6/2009

It is now confirmed that we will be hosted by Subang Jaya Veterans for a Friendly Game on 7th June 2009. Perlawanan persahabatan ini akan di adakan di padang bolasepak di Panasonic Sports Complex (formerly Matsushita Sports Complex) at Lot No. 4, Persiaran Perkilangan Seksyen 21, 40300 Shah Alam, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

The friendly match is scheduled for a 8.00 pm kick off. I suggest we arrive at the compleks latest by 7pm. Surau is available at the complex for prayers. We will be playing 3 halves of 25 minutes each half with rolling substitutions.

As of today 20 players has confirmed taking part. Barring any unforseen circumstances, dijangkakan sekurang-kurangnya 18 - 20 pemain dapat turun padang mewakili UKRV pada hari itu. Di sini saya ingin mengingatkan bahawa hanya "Registered Players of UKRV" sahaja yang dibenarkan beraksi mewakili pasukan UKRV pada setiap perlawanan yang disertai. Absolutely NO 'Guest Players' are allowed to play for or represent UKRV in any of its matches. This would allow ample opportunities for all team players to have 'enough play time' on the field. I hope this rule is observed by all team players at all times.

This afternoon, Chris telah bermurah hati menghadiahkan setiap pemain yang beraksi pada match day menentang Subang Jaya Children League Parents Team tempoh hari, sekeping TEAM PHOTO setiap seorang F.O.C .... free lah tu!. Terima kasih daun keladi Christian, next match ambil gambar dan cetakkan lagi. Seriously, we sincerely appreciate your good gesture Chris. By the way Chris, you would need to hurriedly learn Bahasa Malaysia, as this blog is in dual language (Bahasa Malaysia & English). I tak tahu nak tulis bahasa Danish. You may need the help of your 'Malaysian other half' to translate it for you for the time being.

Manalah tahu kalau hendak lebih dari satu copy ...... untuk didistributekan kepada pihak-pihak yang tertentu .... seperti Barcelona ke, Man U ke ....... sebagai part of the resume mencari kerja sebagai .................. Meanwhile keep up the practise at Wembley. Yang mana ada injuries tu, have a good rest cus we have more games coming your way before we take a break during the month of Ramadhan ................. at least another 4 to 5 friendly matches planned for the month of June, July & August 09.

Latest : As of noon today 31st May 2009, 22 players have confirmed their participation in the game. This time around we will ensure that each player gets at least 20 to 25 minutes of non-stop play in 3 halves ........ jangan lupa, kalau tak cukup angin, angkat tangan .... we have the 'pump bola" ready for use, free pulak tu!

Next Friendly Match - 7th June 2009

We have received an invitation from Ronald, Team Captain of Subang Jaya Veterans, to play in a friendly match on 7th June 2006. The propose venue is the football field at Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam. Kickoff is at 8pm and the game will be played under floodlight. I would need to finalise the number of players who can make it for this game and relay back our reponse to Ronald by the end of this week. I would hope to get the players feedback by this Sunday 31st May 2006. If there is enough quorum, the game will be on. Otherwise we will have to turn down their invitation. I understand that most players will be away with their families during the school holidays. Anyway, I hope to get a minimum of 18 players for the game so that we have enough players for a "rolling substitution" during the game. I believe none of us can last the full 90 minutes. Hope to get your full support .....

We also had Mizi's 19 year old son joining us for the match. Those who could not make it due to sickness, injuries or work commitment overseas includes Halim, Amir "Torres", Garrett, Hashim "Pak Maun", Hisham, Ismail, Abang Jo, Mani, Nathan and Venu.

Our favourite orang seni and composer and strong supporter of the team Aidit Alfian had to be on Jury duty for a TV3 Mentor program that night. Otherwise I am sure he would have been around to support the team.

What an experience playing at SMK USJ4. We thought playing on the astroturf was tough but this was tougher. The team did not expect the "condition" of the field we played on. It was a hard game played on a hard ground. It makes you feel that playing at our "Wembley" pitch seems a lot easier. It was agonising for those playing in boots with "blade studs". Lesson learnt, kena lah have 2 types of boots, a pair with blade studs and the other with soft low studs macam Nik Aziz pakai, the Copa Mundial. Tanya Nik, dia beli RM300 over, tapi Black kata dia boleh dapat RM100 sepasang. Betul ke Black? Jual kat dia orang RM150 sepasang dah untung RM50 sepasang. Kalau semua players beli, sudah boleh sponsor team jersey 3 stripes atau 1 chalit. Boleh Bang? Kalau tanya Azrin, dia akan minta you sponsor gi Chiang Mai (untuk pengetahuan anda sekelian, Azrin dinobat sebagai Ketua rombongan untuk "friendly match" ke Chiang Mai bulan December nanti).

Anyway it was a worthwhile experience. So far we had the "opportunity" of playing on 4 different types of field ...... "sawah padi" field condition at UKRC when it really pours, the most ideal condition at UKRC when it does not rain for a couple of days, the astroturf pitch at ISKL and the "hard ground" at SMK USJ4 yesterday.

Thanks to the captain, everybody had a chance to play and some like me had only a total of 60 seconds touch of the ball (including the throw-ins) on the pitch. Some had to pull out after awhile ............. apa lagi ... recurring hamstringlah, calf muscle strainlah. Ravin had to limp out and Krishnan retired after the warm-up session. Even our "Bentara Guru" (Sharifuddin) yang muda tu pun kena juga!. Those nursing their injuries, you can get some expert advice here:

I had to endure a painful swelling of the calf muscle the whole of last night. It swells and I had to have an ice therapy for a couple of hours. Pretended it wasn't painful lest the other half keeps up the nagging the whole night ( you know lah .... the usual .........I told you so ! You're not 25 any longer ! etc etc). I thought after 2 weeks my calf muscle strain would have cured itself as I felt no pain while playing at "Wembley" earlier in the morning ....... but I felt a sharp pain in the calf when I tried chasing after a loose ball ................. remember the time when I ran in "slow motion" ..... ni nak main sangat lah ni, the mind is willing but ............... you know the rest.

There goes my tennis session with the kids and the gang at Melawati. Hope to recover within a week a week or so (but Krishnan has been enduring the injury eversince the game with UKRC). From what I have read about calf muscle injuries; the cure from the injury is not determine by the number of days after you have had the injury but rather by a series of fitness test to determine whether you are finally cured of the injury. The final test is to do the following; try jumping on one feet ..... using the injured leg lah of course. If you can do it without any pain, you're finally cured brother ! Thank god you might say ..... but then again, it might recurr if you do not warm up the muscle enough before play. Tanya Murti, main apa apa pun kena warm up lah, betul ke Murti?.

Back to the game. Bathu, Ronald and his team from Subang Jaya CYFL gave us a really good game. For a team that was only formed a week ago, their players displayed much football flair and skills and their experience helps them to contain our players. We missed some good chances in front of their goal in the second half and might have scored a couple if not for the excellent saves made by their keeper.

Shah scored the opening goal in the 1st half from a through ball by Azrul and Amin scored the second goal in a typical Nor Amin long range shot from ouside the penalty box into the right hand corner of the goal post. Subang Jaya scored one against us in the 3rd half. It was a well struck ball that bounced akwardly in front of our keeper and into the back of the net.

They took the game to us in the opening minutes of the second half and were rentlessly pursuing the equaliser until the 3rd half of the game. They made some fine moves and if not for our "cool" back four lead by the our Captain, the match could have ended in a draw. Play was never dull and the ball was kept in play in both halves at all times. I would think the ball possession was an equal 50% for both sides. However we had more shots at goals in all the 3 halves. Play was fair and the referee never had to caution anyone throughout the game. The game ended with a 2-1 score in our favour.

All our players had a good game and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Tapi kita kena banyakkan practise and our fitness is very suspect at times. By now we are pretty sure and comfortable in the positions that we have been playing in the team. Let us not asyik tukar position of play unless of course some players are absent or not available on match day, so kena double up lah. With the each player having established or feel comfortable playing in the position of his choice, kita dah boleh kenal dan memahami each other style of play and capabilities and can read their "game" (minda permainan - betul ke pengunaan perkataan itu Bentara Guru?); mana yang tak boleh lari tu (macam aku ni), jangan lah you all bagi through ball, pass to the feet lah brother!

But then again, we average about 20 players for every match ........ so that should be enough to fill in every position with a back-up player for every match.

Tapi I nak minta tolong players semua, kalau ada match dengan U16 on Sundays please turun padang. The previous Sunday we had only 14 players playing for 90 minutes. Kesian dia orang ............... Garrett sampai sakit kedua-dua ankle and could not play against Subang Jaya. Otherwise kita request kat Chief Coach Kok to limit play for 2 halves at 25 minutes for each half. I think the practise match we have with the U16 should only be played when there is no U11 league games, so that there will be more palyers available, unless you guys want to scrap this practise match altogether. What say you, I need feedback on this matter. Tapi kita perlukan practise match ni to keep our fitness in check betul tak?

After the game some of us had our "get together" at Kinrara/Puchong rest area. After the maghrib prayers, we all enjoyed satay kajang with Azrin of course being the "tekung" of the group.
